ABOUT
Samantha Mann is a Brooklyn based writer covering queer life, popular culture, mental health, and motherhood. She has written for The New York Times, The Cut, Vogue, Elle, TIME, Today Show, Huffington Post Personal, Bon Appetit, Bustle, Washington Post Magazine, and Romper. She has contributed to the most recent issue of Mother Tongue Magazine (Issue 6). Samantha was a contributing writer for BUST digital magazine for three years between 2019-2021. Her BUST essay, The Orgasm Gap and DJ Khaled, was featured in Roxane Gay’s newsletter, The Audacity. Her Romper essay, Social Media Shabbat, was featured on the popular blog Cup of Jo. Samantha writes and conducts author interviews for The Rumpus.
Samantha is also the author of the essay collection, Putting Out: Essays on Otherness (Read Furiously, New Jersey 2019). In 2023 Putting Out was added to CLMPS recommended reading list for Women's History Month. Samantha edited and curated the anthology, I Feel Love: Notes on Queer Joy (Read Furiously, June 2022). Buzzfeed Book review said, "This is the perfect collection for readers looking to appreciate and celebrate the many talented writers within the LGBTQIA+ community."
Samantha has utilized a variety of outlets to cultivate a large readership. She has participated in dozens of reading series and literary events throughout the country including two of Time Out Magazine’s notable Miss Manhattan’s Nonfiction Reading Series and Books and Burlesque. She has read at The Nonfiction Show in Los Angeles. Samantha has been a guest speaker at Endicott College and George Mason University. She been a guest on the People’s Choice nominated podcast, Bitch Sesh, as a queer culture correspondent. Most recently, she was a guest on the GLAAD media winning podcast, This Queer Book Saved my Life. She teaches essay writing workshops with the organization Writing Workshops and for the Sarah Lawrence Writing Institute.
